This year the 2010 Spring Fitness & Training Forum will be one day instead of two. We will be offering multiple session selections in each time slot. You will really get a bang for your buck this year!

We are so excited to announce that we have confirmed PETRA KOLBER as our next guest presenter for our Upcoming Fitness & Training Forum. She is one of our favorite upbeat and fun presenters! She is best known for her creativity and common sense approach to teaching and uplifting and inspirational lectures. Within the fitness industry Petra is recognized for her down to earth attitude towards exercise, her approachability and her off beat sense of humor. If you've never seen her, we're confident you are going to love her as much as we do. Here is her bio:

Petra Kolber is an international presenter and motivational speaker. She is the spokesperson for Yes Fitness Music and the fitness expert for Spry Living magazine and California Walnuts. Petra has choreographed and starred in over 28 award winning videos. Petra was awarded 2004 and 2003 Best Female Presenter of the Year by ECA, 2001 IDEA Fitness Presenter of the Year and 2000 Canadian Fitness Professionals International Presenter of the Year. A non - stop, no nonsense approach to full body training. This session brings out the best in your students and makes the most of a 60 min class. Developed with the group instructor in mind, this workout is designed to target the entire body in less than an hour. The workout circuits between easy to do cardio drills .....

Feral fitness is about moving our body the way humans were designed to move. Humans have developed over centuries to have the physical abilities that we have today. We are designed to lift objects. We are designed to climb. We have evolved to jump, run, crawl, throw, play and be outside. Feral fitness works with your biology instead of against it. (This session will be conducted outdoors – rain or shine. Please wear appropriate clothing)

Join Petra in a non-stop circuit workout that alternates cardio grooves with athletic moves. See how each segment whether it has a dance or athletic feel can all be woven together to create a high intensity workout that is easy to follow, easy to teach and also a kicking good time.

BAREFOOT TRAINING with Derrick deLay
Have you noticed the trend towards shoes with less cushioning and stability features? Have you read any of the literature suggesting that wearing rigid shoes can cause complications to the foot, lower limb, knees and various other issues up the kinetic chain? Barefoot training re-conditions the foot to do its job and allows the foot and its 27 bones to articulate the way it was designed to do. However, if you’ve been wearing supportive shoes your whole life, you’ve got to ease into Barefoot Training or risk some serious issues. Attend this session to discuss current literature on Barefoot Training, suggested progressions and various ways to initiate Barefoot Training with your clients.

Review the basic principles of step training, interval drills and muscle conditioning with Kettlebells and then finish with experiencing this effective workout incorporating new and innovative patterns and exercises

At the end of the day what a person perceives a person believes and this has never been truer than with a step class. This session explores how to find the balance between creativity and success. Balancing the area where we challenge our students both mentally and physically without taking them to the point of frustration. Useable choreography with logical and repeatable breakdowns will be the focus of this session.

CORE CONDITIONING COMBOS with Sherri McMillan

The core is the center from which all your movements originate. Its strength is critical to optimal heath and effective and efficient movement. We’ve got to incorporate stabilization training, spinal extension, rotation, lateral flexion and forward flexion in order to ensure a balanced and strong core from all angles. This workshop is going to take you through a variety of Core Conditioning Combos arranged and sequenced to hit all the components of a strong core in a creative and effective way. You’ll walk away with a number of sequences that you can use right away with classes and/or clients

YOGA ALIGNMENTS AND ADJUSTMENTS with Alissa Lesperance
When the bones and joints are aligned, there is less work for the muscles as well as improved balance and circulation. This leads to better health and a sense of well being. This workshop will help the yoga practitioner gain a deeper knowledge of inner and outer body alignment through education on anatomy as well as adjustments of yoga asanas. You will learn how to guide students through verbal cuing and demonstration as well as correcting and enhancing student postures with physical adjustments

MAT MOVES with Petra Kolber
This fusion class blends Eastern and Western movements and mindset to create a fusion class that brings presence of mind and awareness of body into the classroom. An easy to replicate fusion flow that builds around a traditional sun salutation and layers in postures and sequences that allow for all levels of fitness and experience to feel welcome and successful. Movements from Yoga, Tai Chi, Dance and Strength are woven together into a beautiful sequence that calms the mind while strengthening the body

PILATES FOR PERSONAL TRAINERS with Krista Loveless
This workshop teaches how to integrate Pilates principles and fundamental exercises into your personal training programs for clients. Clients want and can benefit from Pilates exercises so incorporating some Basic Pilates movements into your clients’ programs will add great value to your services as a Personal Trainer.

What to Bring: Bring lots of snacks and water. Be sure to wear active gear, running shoes and bring changes of clothes and a jacket.

Multnomah Athletic Club requires workout attire to be covered up (sweat suit etc) when walking within the facility. Please enter at that "Athletic Entrance".
Special Instructions: You will be emailed after you register to select your sessions. It is important to ensure your email address is correct as sessions will fill up fast and you must reserve space in your desired sessions.

Parking: If the MAC parking lots are not full you can park for free. Tell the parking attendant that you are with the Fitness & Training Forum. If the MAC parking lots are full you will be directed to a leased parking lot where you will need to pay $6 for parking (for the day).

Lunch: There is a restaurant and snack bar on-site (accepts only cash) or you can bring a lunch.

We will have DVDs, books some equipment available for purchase and will accept credit cards, checks and cash.

NOTE Northwest Personal Training does not issue refunds for events. In the event that you are unable to make this event we can issue you a credit for a future event or product.
Credits: ACE, NASM and NSCA CECs will be given.
NSCA = 0.9 CEUs or 9 contact hours
