Try incorporating these small actions for each of your staff members:
Although they seem small….they go a long way in showing your staff that you truly care.
Send a personalized birthday email to each staff member and include your entire team. This gives everyone a chance to wish the staff member a happy birthday.
Send a personalized anniversary email to each staff member commemorating how long they have been with your company. Include positive contributions they have made to your company. Remember to include the rest of your staff on the email.
Ask how each staff member likes to receive praise (group email, personal email, in person etc.)
Ask what type of gift card each member prefers so that you have the info you need when you want to surprise them with a gift that they will especially appreciate.
Year end party with awards chosen by peers.
Remember, being organized and consistent with praise is VERY important. When you first hire a staff member make sure to mark your calendar with their birthdays, anniversary, what type of rewards they prefer and how they prefer to be praised. Then, you must either make it your job to deliver the praise or you need to assign it to someone on your staff (manager etc.) to do so.
