    101 Ways to BOSU

    How many ways can you BOSU®? We promise 101 exercises on the spot that quickly morph into double the fun with very little effort. Explore new ideas for using the BOSU® Balance Trainer for cardio, strength, core and flexibility drills that are easily scaled down for those new to balance training, or enhanced to challenge your most veteran participants. We will explore building blocks to restructure drills for unlimited BOSU® workouts. Whether you are new to BOSU®, or a groupie begging for more, BOSU® 101 will fill your toolbox with more than enough to get you through the next year! Participants will receive the 101 Ways to BOSU® Handout and DVD Download.


    Plant-based Nutrition for Health and Longevity:  A research review with practical implementation strategies.

    Description: What daily choice is the number 1 determinant of our health? What we eat. A plant-based diet can be an optimal way to meet your daily energy and nutrient needs while promoting health and preventing disease. In this session we will explore the nutrition science of a whole-food plant-based diet. We will discuss the pros, the cons, and how to eat a more plant-based diet.

    Description: Learn the secret to creating buzz in the locker room and a wait list for your class! You’ll discover how to build class designs that WOW your participants by integrating the latest cycling protocols through Schwinn’s proven system. Get ready to have your mind blown and your classes sold out! 


    Foam Roller Master Class: Posture and Core Stability
    Dr. Jeni Gall, Physical Therapist (Active)
    This session is a detailed exploration of posture and core stability training using the foam roller. From osteoporosis to high level athletes, postural work and strength exercises on the foam roller will improve alignment, breathing capacity, and body awareness so clients get the most out of all aspects of their fitness program. We will address Neurocore Stabilization, postural alignment in the sagittal and frontal planes, upper body strength training, core strength training, and tips for helping clients develop a home program on the roller. We will also discuss and practice ways to use visual and touch cues to assess asymmetries for developing training progressions on and off the roller. You will go home with new ideas for individual and group training programming, including 5 and 10 minute foam roller warm-ups/cool downs for adding value to client sessions. Expect a combination of discussion, guided movement and partner practice.

    BOSU® Dimensional Core Training

    Advance your core training techniques by taking a global approach as you explore multi-dimensional methods to effectively produce power and improve core function. Examine common mobility and stability imbalances and discover how to correct them by creating movement efficiency through the trunk, hips and shoulder complex. Learn a series of integrated core exercises to mobilize, stabilize, and strengthen the core, giving you greater ability to access the core for optimal function.  Dimensional core training delivers results! 


    Beyond Balance 

    Dr. Jeni Gall, Physical Therapist (Active)

    Description: This session is all about stepping, squatting, reaching, lifting, and carrying on a balance beam. Through fun drills and challenges, you will learn simple to complex ways to use "tandem stepping" and balance sequences to invigorate training sessions. Injury prevention, rehab strategies and fitness training perspectives will be explored. Learn to use the beam to improve foot and ankle competency, balance reactions, front loading and carrying efficiency, glute and hamstring engagement, postural awareness, and dynamic core stability. These skills can be used for home programs, individual training sessions, and groups and require very little cost or set up time. Expect a combination of active movement and discussion.

    Hipster Yoga

    Description: Hipster Yoga is 60 minutes of non-traditional yoga poses and stretches designed to release the hips and offer restorative flexibility for athletes, weekend warriors and anyone who battles tight hips. This session will build you up verses tearing you down so that you can take on activities in life with more flexibility in your hips. This practice is perfect for starting or ending your day with happy hips! 


    Behavior Change for Fitness Professionals: Techniques and strategies to help your clients make the changes they need to so they can live life to the fullest.

    Description: Our bodies are built by our behaviors. Change behaviors, change bodies. In this session you will learn concepts, techniques and processes to help your clients make and maintain positive behavior changes. Learn the secrets to lasting change!

    Recap, Door Prizes and Certificate Hand Out

    What to do to be prepared: For our out of town guests, if you are flying in, you should book your flights arriving into the Portland Oregon Airport (PDX). The event location is about a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport.

    What to bring:
    Bring lots of snacks and water. Be sure to wear active gear, running shoes and bring changes of clothes and a jacket.

    Bring a pen and note-pad.

    Special instructions: NOTE: Northwest Personal Training does not issue refunds for events. In the event that you are unable to make this event we can issue you a credit for a future event or product if we are notified at least 24 hours prior to the event.
